CHATSWORTH PREPARES FOR FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS DEBUT

Durban City FC prepares for a significant milestone this Friday evening as they embark on their first Carling Knockout campaign, hosting Polokwane City at Chatsworth Stadium.

The Durban outfit ushers in a new era, bringing the magic and electric atmosphere of Friday night football to their home.

The fixture marks the club’s entry into a competition that has become a key feature of the South African football calendar.

It also signals the return of a cherished tradition – Friday Night Lights – a campaign that previously created an electric atmosphere in the stands and brought considerable success on the pitch during the club’s history.

Now Chatsworth will get its very own taste of the magic that is…Friday Night Lights.

Ahead of the clash, winger Saziso Magawana acknowledged the sense of occasion within the squad.

“There is a good feeling as we prepare,” he said. “We are still integrating new players, but the group is coming together well. Everyone is ready for Friday.”

For Magawana, the tournament presents a clear and motivating objective.

“It gives us a trophy to chase early in the season, which pushes everyone. We are prepared to give our all.”

Samkelo Maseko who has enjoyed good form netting against TS Galaxy on the opening day of the season and against Magesi FC, highlighted the positive internal competition driving the team forward.

“There is a strong desire from every player to be involved,” Maseko explained. “A win is important; it builds momentum and helps us gel as a unit more quickly.”

The winger also emphasized the importance of performing in front of the home support.

“It is a good opportunity for us, and we understand the responsibility. We want to deliver a performance for our fans who always stand behind us.”

As Friday night approaches, the focus is on a disciplined and unified performance, embracing the occasion while taking a deliberate first step in the club’s knockout football history.
