Durban City FC’s preseason preparations have gained momentum as the club’s new recruits settle seamlessly into Gavin Hunt’s squad ahead of Sunday’s historic Betway Premiership debut against TS Galaxy.

The blend of promotion-winning stalwarts and strategic new additions has created a vibrant training atmosphere at the club’s base. Midfielder Thabo Nodada, returning to his home province after 17 years, reflected on the positive environment.
“I’m just happy to be home. To play in front of a community that understands my upbringing and culture – that for me is enough.”
His sentiments were echoed by fellow newcomer Haashim Domingo, who praised the collective mindset: “We have a good bunch of boys, a very hardworking team. Coach Gavin has instilled that winning mentality which makes all the difference.”
The integration process has been carefully managed through intensive preseason fixtures and tactical sessions, with all signings demonstrating strong adaptability.
Domingo emphasized the squad’s focus ahead of their top-flight bow: “We’re going there positive and wanting the three points. That’s all that’s on our mind.”
“The way we’re working here suits my game perfectly. The coaching staff have been clear about what they want from me, and I’m just focused on delivering that for the team,” Domingo said.
Assimilating as a group swiftly will be key as the team prepares for five league fixtures this month.
“What’s impressed me most is how quickly we’ve come together as a group. There’s no egos here, just players willing to work hard for each other and for the badge.”
The smooth transition bodes well as City prepare to make their Premiership debut at Mbombela Stadium on Sunday afternoon (3pm kick-off).
