CITY LEARN CAF CONFEDERATION CUP GROUP-STAGE OPPONENTS

Durban City FC have been drawn in Group B of the CAF Confederation Cup following the group-stage draw, setting up continental encounters against Morocco’s AS FAR, Tanzania’s Azam FC and Libya’s Al Ahli Tripoli.

The Citizens enter the group stage after an impressive qualifying campaign, winning all four of their matches to secure their place among the 16 teams remaining in the competition. City completed their qualification with a commanding 6–1 aggregate victory over Mauritius’ AS Port Louis 2000, including a 3–0 win away from home in the second leg.

AS FAR will provide a stern test, with the Moroccan club boasting considerable experience in African competition. The Rabat-based side won the CAF Confederation Cup in 2005 and reached the CAF Champions League final in the 2024/25 season. Their pedigree makes them one of the notable opponents in the group.

Tanzania’s Azam FC will also pose a competitive challenge. The club has continued to establish itself in continental football, qualifying for the Confederation Cup group stage for a second consecutive season. Azam secured its latest qualification with a 2–1 aggregate victory over Egypt’s ZED FC.

Libya’s Al Ahli Tripoli complete the group after an emphatic qualifying campaign of their own, defeating Ethiopia’s Welwalo Adigrat 8–1 on aggregate. The club previously reached the Confederation Cup semi-finals in the 2021/22 season and returns to the group stage seeking another strong run in the competition.

The group stage is scheduled to begin in late November, with the six matchdays running through to January 2027.
