Durban City are ready to bring the fight home. Fresh from a dream start to their debut Betway Premiership campaign, the side will look to build on their 2-0 victory over TS Galaxy when they host Chippa United tonight at 19:30 at Chatsworth Stadium.
It’s a historic night, the club’s first-ever top-flight home fixture, and captain Siphamandla Ncanana says the team is ready to embrace the moment.
“The lessons that we need to take to the next game is that we must always have a positive attitude in the game and always encourage and support our teams. Something that also helped us is being patient. There have been moments when we were very calm on the ball. It is important to take that into the next game, waiting for the right moment in the game and keeping our structure,” said Ncanana.
It’s been a quick turnaround for the team after a busy start to the season, but the skipper believes focus and composure will be key.
“We need to recover and be fresh for the game against Chippa. We have to stay focused and stay humble. We need to be ready. It is going to be a nice game, the gents are ready, and we are excited to play our first home game at Chatsworth. We want to do our best to get maximum points at home. We call it the slaughterhouse. We just need to stay focused.”
The significance of the occasion isn’t lost on the players, and Ncanana had a message for the supporters: “For our fans, we want them to know that we will fight for them every game.”
With three points already in the bag and confidence running high, the team aims to make Chatsworth a fortress from day one.
