CITY INTENSIFY PREPARATIONS AHEAD OF KZN DERBY CLASH AGAINST AMAZULU

Durban City FC has used the international break to intensify preparations for one of the season’s most anticipated fixtures, the KwaZulu-Natal derby against AmaZulu FC at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday.

The Citizens return to Betway Premiership action aiming to build on their current fourth-place standing, with the clash offering a crucial chance to secure local bragging rights and consolidate their league position.

Head coach Gavin Hunt and his technical team have overseen a focused week of training, sharpening the squad’s tactical structure and defensive discipline ahead of the demanding local encounter.

Winger Trevor Mokoena, who has been instrumental in the team’s recent performances, shared insights into the squad’s readiness.

“Training has been good coming from the break, everyone looks sharp and ready for the derby game,” Mokoena said.

“The mood in the camp is excellent, the unity among the guys is strong. We understand the occasion, but our focus is on the match itself.”

Mokoena emphasized the importance of a consistent approach, regardless of the opponent.

“For us, every game is important; we aim for maximum points in every match we play,” he added.

The winger also highlighted the significant role the club’s supporters are expected to play in the packed stadium.

“We call on our fans to come out in numbers. They are our 12th man, and we will need their energy. We are prepared to give our all to deliver a performance and a result for them.”
