Durban City FC joins the entire nation in celebrating Bafana Bafana’s qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, a feat secured with a decisive 3-0 victory over Rwanda.
Head coach Gavin Hunt hailed the achievement, extending his congratulations to the national team setup.
“Fantastic achievement,” Hunt said.
“To the players, Hugo and the team of Helman and Grant and all the backroom staff, fantastic achievement. Really proud to be a South African today.”

Reflecting on the broader significance for the sport in the country, Hunt emphasized the national team’s vital role.
“South African football gets judged on your national team,” he explained.
“It’s important that our national team is competing in these tournaments… It was vitally important for us to qualify. And we did. It doesn’t matter how we did it, we did it.”
Hunt expressed his full support for the team as they look ahead to the global tournament in the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
“We’re really proud and honoured and as I said, let’s go there and really do our country proud and I’m sure they will do,” he added. “Good luck, onwards and upwards.”
The entire Durban City FC family wishes Bafana Bafana the very best in their World Cup preparations.
