DURBAN CITY AIM TO BOUNCE BACK AGAINST GALLANTS IN CHATSWORTH CLASH

Durban City FC returns to the familiar turf of Chatsworth Stadium on Wednesday night, eager to get back to winning ways against Marumo Gallants in a crucial Betway Premiership encounter. Kick-off is at 19:30.

The home side is looking to respond after a narrow 1-0 loss to Kaizer Chiefs in their last outing.

Similarly, their opponents, Gallants, arrive off the back of a defeat, having lost to Golden Arrows over the weekend.

The fixture presents a tight battle on the league table, with ninth-placed City (15 points) looking to create a buffer over tenth-placed Gallants (13 points).

Speaking ahead of the match, goalkeeper Darren Keet, who has recorded five clean sheets this season, emphasized the team’s focus on a solid defensive foundation to turn their fortunes around.

“We definitely want to put things right and turn the corner, especially as we head into the international break,” Keet said.

“We need to get back to keeping clean sheets, back to defending well. I think in the first few games of the season we defended really well and the results came. When you defend well, the team gets confidence going forward also.”

Keet also acknowledged the quality of the opposition but stressed the squad’s motivation.

“We’ve seen a lot of their capabilities, but we’ve also seen their weaknesses, and we are going to try and exploit that. We are fired up and ready to give a good account of ourselves. Wednesday is a perfect opportunity to bounce back and get good momentum.”

Midfielder Haashim Domingo echoed the sentiment, highlighting the importance of a strong home performance.

“It is a short turnaround for us since the Chiefs game, but the boys are switched on,” said Domingo.

“We know what is on the table and what is expected of us. It is very important; we need to get maximum points at home in front of our fans.”

Analysing the threat posed by Gallants, Domingo added, “They have shown good moments this season, they build up from the back and like to play. We have to stick together and work together.”

With the team determined to reward the fan support, Darren Keet added a final message: “We are actually quite looking forward to getting back to Chatsworth Stadium and giving them a good show on Wednesday night. We really appreciate the support.”

All eyes will be on Chatsworth Stadium this Wednesday as The Citizens seek a vital three points to swing the momentum back in their favour.
