DURBAN CITY FC STARS LEND A HELPING HAND AT SEASON OF SHARING TELETHON

Durban City FC players Joslin Kamatuka and Terrence Mashego recently traded the pitch for the phone lines, stepping up as celebrity volunteers for East Coast Radio’s annual Season of Sharing Telethon on Friday, 7 November.

The event, held at the Pick n Pay Hyper by the sea, saw the duo join the on-air crew for the marathon broadcast, which aims to raise crucial funds and bring hope to thousands of families and children in need across KwaZulu-Natal.

Their role involved answering a constant stream of calls from the generous public, taking down donor details and processing pledges.

For Kamatuka, the experience was both impactful and inspiring. “It was a really great experience, I had so much fun,” he said.

“I got to answer calls and take details from people donating money for those in need. Hearing someone donate R100,000 was truly heartwarming.”

The initiative at the bustling seaside venue highlighted the club’s commitment to being a positive force within the community.

By taking part, players like Kamatuka and Mashego helped drive contributions for vital food vouchers and gifts, demonstrating the powerful role sports figures can play in uniting people for a common cause.
