CITIZENS RETURN TO ACTION FOR KZN DERBY AGAINST AMAZULU

Durban City FC return to Betway Premiership action on Tuesday night with a new man in the dugout, as Eric Tinkler prepares to take charge of the Citizens for the first time when they host AmaZulu FC at Chatsworth Stadium.

Tinkler’s appointment comes during a demanding opening stretch of the season, with City having already competed across domestic and continental competitions.

The Citizens will now look to put their recent league results behind them as they resume their campaign following the international break.

City currently sit 10th on the Betway Premiership table, while AmaZulu arrive in Chatsworth in third place with 16 points from seven matches. Usuthu have won five of those fixtures, making them one of the early pace-setters this season.

Goalkeeper Frederick Asare says the players have worked hard during the break and are ready to return to action.

“It’s our first match back after the international break, so we want to return with a positive result. We know AmaZulu are a good side and that it will be a tough fixture, but we have prepared well and worked hard in training.

“We want to put that work into the game and get a positive result in front of our supporters on Tuesday,” said Asare.

Tuesday’s derby will give Tinkler his first opportunity to lead City in a competitive fixture, with the Citizens aiming to make a strong start under their new coach against local rivals who have made an encouraging start to the season.
