The international break is over, and the league campaign resumes with a crucial encounter as Durban City FC return to the familiar turf of Chatsworth Stadium to host Siwelele FC on Tueasday night.

The Citizens will be looking to immediately recapture their positive early-season form and use their home advantage to climb higher up the table.

Form Guide

The two sides come into this match with contrasting fortunes in the opening stages of the season.

Durban City FC have enjoyed a solid, encouraging start. With two wins and two draws from their first five fixtures, they sit in 6th place on the log, demonstrating a resilience that has made them a tough team to break down.

Siwelele FC meanwhile have just one win, one draw, and three losses from their five matches, they currently reside in 11th place.

A Word from the Captain

Team captain Liam de Kock believes the team is refreshed and ready for the challenge ahead after the FIFA break. “I think the break has been refreshing for all of us. Seeing family was great for us,” De Kock stated.

“Coming back from the last game now, we worked on our mistakes, trying to correct things and working on other elements.”

The skipper also highlighted the strong team spirit within the squad, which he sees as a key asset.

“The thing that excites me about this team is we are a new team and a lot of people underestimate us, but they do not know what qualities we have here. We have been building chemistry.”

While respectful of the opposition, De Kock’s confidence in his team is clear.

“I think Siwelele could be a tricky opponent on the day, but I believe in the boys and I think that we will be able to get the result.”

He ended with a message to the fans, whose support will be vital: “We are looking forward to playing at home again and know that our supporters will be there in their numbers.”

With the home crowd behind them and a point to prove, The Citizens will be confident they can secure all three points and continue their promising start to the season.
