CITY FACE DEMANDING AWAY TEST AGAINST GALLANTS

Durban City FC travel to the Lucas Moripe Stadium on Sunday, 1 March, for a Betway Premiership clash against Marumo Gallants, as the campaign moves into a decisive phase.

City sit sixth on the table with 28 points from 18 matches and arrive in confident mood following a controlled 2–0 victory over TS Galaxy. The performance reflected the side’s growing consistency and kept them within reach of the division’s leading pack.

The two sides last met on 5 November, where City secured a narrow 1-0 victory at home courtesy of a decisive strike from Domingo. That result will offer belief heading into Sunday’s return fixture, although the away setting presents a different challenge.

Gallants, who have struggled for consistency this season, currently occupy the 14th place with 15 points, three points clear of the relegation zone. A run of four consecutive defeats has heightened the urgency around their campaign, and playing at home is likely to add further intensity to their approach as they seek to reverse recent form.

City winger, Samkelo Maseko emphasised the team’s focus ahead of the trip.

“The mandate is clear, we are going there for the three points. Winning away from home is important for us at this stage of the season. We know they will fight, but we believe in the work we have put in, and we want to build on our last result.”

With the season entering a decisive stretch, consistency remains critical. For Durban City, Sunday represents another opportunity to demonstrate maturity on the road and convert strong performances into valuable points away from home.
