The road to the semi-finals of the Nedbank Cup runs through KwaZulu-Natal this week as Durban City F.C. prepare for a fiercely contested derby against Lamontville Golden Arrows F.C. at King Zwelithini Stadium.
With a place in the final four of South Africa’s premier cup competition at stake, the quarter-final promises to be an electrifying encounter between these two fierce provincial rivals City make the trip across the province in strong league form.
The Citizens have been one of the standout teams this season and currently occupy fourth place on the Premiership table, one point behind a third placed Sekhukhune United.
Their most recent outing saw City share the spoils in a 1–1 draw with Babina Noko at Chatsworth Stadium, in what proved to be another tightly contested encounter between two sides competing in the upper half of the table.

When City and Arrows met in the league on 19 August in the opening stages of the campaign, the contest finished level at 1–1, underlining the competitive balance between the KZN rivals.
All eyes will be on the midfield battle, where Arrows’ Siyanda Ndlovu has impressed this season, while City have built momentum thanks to contributions from players like Kyle Jurgens. Up front, Junior Dion remains a constant threat for the home side, while Saziso Magawana has been in fine form, scoring in each of City’s last two matches.
For City, the quarter-final represents another opportunity to underline their growing credentials this season. A place in the semi-finals would mark a significant achievement in the club’s campaign and continue a cup run that has already delivered memorable moments.
