The Citizens return to Chatsworth Stadium on Saturday for another KZN derby, with Richards Bay FC next up for Durban City following Wednesday’s goalless draw against Golden Arrows.
Assistant coach Musa Nyatama acknowledged the demands of the quick turnaround but believes the result against Arrows gives the team something to build on.
“It’s a very difficult schedule, especially with the games coming so close together, but we got a positive result against Arrows and managed to take a point. Now we must recover well, prepare properly and make sure we’re ready to fight for maximum points against Richards Bay.”
The two provincial foes are no strangers to one another, having already met during the off-season in the Premier’s Cup, where the Natal Rich Boys progressed after a penalty shootout. This time, however, the two sides meet again at Chatsworth, with Richards Bay making the trip to face the Citizens in a league encounter.
Nyatama expects a difficult encounter against the Natal Rich Boys, while Durban City will be looking to sharpen things up in the final third after being held to a goalless draw by Arrows on Wednesday.
“They are a tricky side, so we know it will be a difficult game. We have been playing good football, but we need to be more effective in the final third and make our chances count.”
The Citizens will now look to build on Wednesday’s performance and turn their point against Arrows into a winning result when Richards Bay arrive at Chatsworth on Saturday.
