Durban City Football Club is proud to announce a landmark title sponsorship agreement with Jonsson Workwear, Africa’s largest provider of purpose-built workwear.

This partnership brings together two entities with deep roots in KwaZulu-Natal and a shared commitment to excellence, resilience, and community legacy.
The new alliance continues a remarkable story of football heritage in the province. The club now known as Durban City FC carries forward two proud histories, the legendary “Durban Blues” of the 1960s and 70s, two-time NPSL champions and the more recent legacy of Maritzburg United, a club known for its passionate community support and developmental ethos.

This rebranding in 2024 united these threads of football history under one ambitious vision, creating a new force in the Betway Premiership rooted in the triumphs of the past.
Jonsson Workwear has built its reputation on quality, durability, and outfitting the nation’s workforce with pride. This partnership represents a meeting of values between a brand that equips those who build South Africa and a club built on grit, history, and ambition.

Club Chairman Farook Kadodia expressed his enthusiasm for the new partnership.
“This is far more than a sponsorship, it is a convergence of legacies. Jonsson Workwear represents the reliability and hard-working spirit that defines our region.”
“Their commitment to quality and community aligns perfectly with our own journey, honouring the history of both the original Durban City FC and Maritzburg United while building a new future for football in Durban. This partnership provides a solid foundation for the next chapter of our story,” Kadodia said.
Head of Marketing from Jonsson Workwear, Dilshaan Chetty, shared, “We’re incredibly proud to be partnering with a team that understands success and growth are built on hard work, determination and of course, peak performance- values which form the core of our business. We look forward to standing alongside Durban City FC’s supporters, backing the team in this exciting new era for Durban football.”
Building on the positive momentum of a bright start to the Betway Premiership season with three wins, two draws, and a single loss from their opening six matches, currently occupying fourth place on the table, the partnership arrives at a pivotal time.
Kadodia emphasized how this deal is crucial for sustaining and building upon this early promise.
“This landmark agreement with Jonsson Workwear provides the financial stability and strategic support we need to continue our growth. The team has shown its quality on the pitch, and this partnership ensures we can strengthen our project, invest in our infrastructure, and build a squad capable of maintaining this form and achieving our long-term ambitions.”
